Character (Original Universe)
Name: Locke Cole
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Canon: Final Fantasy VI
Canon Point: Post-canon
History: Wikia link!
Personality: Locke, outwardly, is confident and quite competent. A self-proclaimed “treasure hunter,” he is quite fond of adventuring and finding new and exciting things and/or liberating them from an undeserving owner. He is quite sensitive about his occupation, calling Locke a thief is grounds for physical violence.

Locke has a good sense of humor and a penchant for banter, usually at Edgar’s expense. In addition, he is eager to protect and while he might have some… unsavory hobbies, he is always willing to step up and help someone, especially young, supposedly defenseless women. This may outwardly appear to be something of the mark of a womanizer, but that’s Edgar’s thing. Locke carries the deep guilt of having lost his girlfriend, Rachel. She became amnesiac after protecting him from a bridge collapse and, with influence from her family who did not approve of Locke and blamed him, drove him away. He later returned to find out she had died in an Imperial attack, having regained her memories just before her death and uttering his name.

The attack is what caused Locke to turn against the Empire and join the Returners. In addition, he commissioned an herbalist to preserve Rachel’s body. Locke is absolutely driven to find a way to return her soul to her body and bring her back. This guilt causes him to want to protect others from the same circumstances and his treasure hunting, which was before a way of life, is now a driving goal in his life.

Deep down, Locke carries a lot of guilt with him. While it isn't readily apparent, Locke has a lot of triggers that will cause an immediate and very predictable response. When it comes to the Empire? Anger and opposition. Someone who needs protection? Immediate assistance. While he appears open, Locke's heart is closed. His world stopped when Rachel died, and the only thing he has is his vendetta against the Empire and his quest for some power that can bring Rachel back to him.

This guilt is eased after the acquisition of the Phoenix magicite. In his attempts to resurrect Rachael, while he is not ultimately successful he is given a brief moment to speak with Rachael and be forgiven. This allows him to once again open his heart, moving on from that horrible period that has in many ways kept him in stasis, stunting his personal emotional growth and ability to connect with others on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Third-Person Sample: While Locke found the whole situation strange, as far as he was concerned he'd seen - and experienced much weirder. Best not to think too hard about it and make the most of this new adventure. Besides, some of his friends were around so it wasn't all THAT bad. And with all the work on reconstruction they'd been doing, he could use a vacation anyway. While he wasn't a stranger to hard work, heavy lifting wasn't REALLY his thing.

So, why not? Looks like the food and housing was covered and he was pretty sure they could manage on their own. He'd been itching to get back to adventuring anyway, and this world definitely didn't seem to lack for that. Locke was getting pretty excited, actually, during their travels he'd discovered a lot of fabulous treasure in his own world so this new world surely had plenty more new and interesting things to be plundered.

Er... found. Yes. Found.

Mognet Sample:[The following letter has been sent to the entire network. It has in big, bold, hand-drawn letters "SEEKING SKILLED ADVENTURERS - APPLY WITHIN". It additionally has doodles of four little adventurers with various job outfits standing over a dragon with x's for eyes and a speech bubble that says "blargh I am dead!"]

All right guys, this is a general call to all adventuring sorts. I've been keeping my ear to the ground and am hearing some rumors of some treasure in the Ancient Cave. Now yes, I know what you're thinking, "Locke nobody knows what those inscriptions say", but that's not what I'm after. I can just smell the treasure in there, and my nose is never wrong. But you know what they say about wandering alone into danger, and while I know what I'm doing I'm not quite as capable out here as I used to be. So, let's form a group. Even split between all participants of course, I'm not stingy. If we find something big that can't be split easily we can work out some kind of payment for treasure option, it's not to hard to do. A few different Jobs would be nice to have along, we want a bunch of different skillsets to make sure we can handle whatever nasty things are most definitely guarding the treasure. Any takers? Apply within!

[There is an attached application page for people to list their job, skills, and years of experience adventuring. Curiously, it also makes a big point of having people rate how observant they are]
